HISTORY
See,
I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms,
to root out, and to pull down, and destroy, and to throw down, to
build and to plant Jeremiah1:10

In 1989 Sharon Titian responded to the call of God on her life
which led her to a remote village in the Volta Region of Ghana,
West Africa. Life was very hard there for a Canadian woman and
Sharon suffered greatly during those early years. Still, the Lord
used her there to expose the Tro-Kosi Fetish Shrine system. Under
this system young girls are enslaved in the shrines to atone for
the crime of a family member. They become the property of a Fetish
priest, deprived of food, medical help and basic needs and suffer
terrible reproach by their families and communities.
For the next 10 years, Sharon helped to provide life skills and
vocational training to enable these girls to become
self-supporting as well as teaching them the Word of God. After
accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts they were delivered and
set free from demonic oppression, fear and guilt.
In 1994 Sharon was asked to provide evidence to the Parliament of
Ghana to introduce a bill which would stop this cultural abuse of
women and young girls. By the grace of God, in 1998 a law was
passed in Ghana to abolish the practice. A Vocational Training
Center was established at Missions International where the then
free Tro-Kosi girls could learn skills which would help them to
become independent.
Work has continued with the schooling for the poor of the area
needing economic help. Literacy and vocational training were
provided for both young men and women. in November 2002, a
Biblical Studies Program was begun.
After eighteen years of working in Ghana the needs of the African
community have changed. In response to the change Sharon is
concentrating on providing a feeding program for the elderly in
the village of Adidome where the mission is located and a home for
the orphaned children who the social welfare department in the
area have brought to her for care. To date, over forty people are
fed a meal once a day in the Soup Kitchen Feeding Program and 18
children are living at the new coastal residence. As many as 38
children have lived at the mission at one time.
In Adidome currently three buildings exist on a five-acre piece
of land including a bungalow, and two, two-story dormitories. A
fourth building is being built to house Mount Zion Bible College
which opened in 2007.
Currently Sharon continues work with the Lord filling his vision
as it is reveal.
Message from
Sharon Titian, January, 2010
Greetings from Ghana in the Name of our Lord!
We just want to take this
opportunity to thank all of you who have been supporting us
financially and in prayer throughout 2009. The Lord moved
mightily during last year and we are expecting greater things for
2010!
Praise Report
-
The parcel of land at the coast has totally been
paid for and a new building is going up.
-
In Adidome we paid for the land and began
building the Seniors Centre pavilion following the
removal of a huge bow bow tree which had stood in the way of
this project for two years. It was God’s grace and we thank Him
and give Him glory.
-
Our ongoing needs were met!
-
The first two-year program at the Bible School
was completed in May, 2009 and the second one started in
September with new students.
-
Five mission teams participated in the work.
It is only through teamwork that
we are able to continue the work. God bless all of you abundantly
this year. We will continue to let you know how the Lord is
moving here. We thank the Lord for all He enables us to do
through you, our supporters.
Blessings in His Holy Name
Sharon
